Maths
Year 5  L.O: To add and subtract fractions.
  • Activity 1: Watch the demonstration video below for today's lesson. This is a topic we have covered in class but today is an opportunity to consolidate and solidify this existing understanding.

Remember when adding and subtracting fractions the most important rule is to make sure your denominators are the same before you add or subtract the numerators!

If you feel you need some more support before you can tackle any questions relating to this topic, click this link and watch the videos which will help you understand adding and subtracting fractions and make things a little more clearer: Adding and Subtracting Fractions

Year 6: L.O: To multiply decimals by integers.

R.E. L.O: To explore the traditions of 'Ramadan'.

Since the 23rd April last month, many Muslims around the world have been observing the month of 'Ramadan'. Ramadan is the ninth month of the Islamic calendar, observed by Muslims worldwide as a month of fasting, prayer, reflection and community and ends this Saturday 23rd May.

Activity 1: Open the following link to find out more about the significance of this time of year in the Islamic calender and what Muslims do to celebrate this this time of year. Whilst you are watching the video and reading the information on this webpage, fill in the worksheet titled 'Ramadan Fact File'. Today's 'additional task' will also provide you with lots of information for this activity.

What is Ramadan?

Activity 2: As you would have learnt, during Ramadan, Muslims try to give up any bad habits or negative behaviour and try to do more good deeds. Using the attachment below titled 'Good Deeds and Bad Habits', consider what bad habits would you give up, and what good deeds could you do.

P.E.

At a time where we all find ourselves indoors for the most of the day, we should bear in mind how important daily exercise is for our health and wellbeing, particularly our mental health. If you are able to, take your device somewhere with plenty of space (even the garden on a nice sunny day) or clear some space in front of your computer and follow along with Joe Wicks for a 30 minute workout. I will definitely be doing the same!

OR alternatively, Mrs Lightfoot has uploaded some very exciting links to other online PE sessions which you can access by following this link:   Alternative P.E. Ideas
