Tuesday 12th May

English L.O: To write a book review for 'Pig Heart Boy'.

Activity 1: Listen to Chapter 27 of 'Pig Heart Boy' on the Learning--> Stories page of the website. This is the FINAL chapter of this story! I have thoroughly enjoyed this book and I hope you have too.

Activity 2: Today, you are going to write a book review on Pig Heart Boy by Malorie Blackman. Whether you enjoyed the story or not, book reviews are very important. They are crucial in helping other readers find a book to enjoy and more importantly, I believe they help us to get a better understanding of what books we enjoy reading.

Attached below is a file titled 'Book Review Template' (looks like the picture below). Complete this template by answering the questions prompts, filling in each box as you go. Alternatively, if you wish to write your review in paragraphs (this will allow you to be more detailed) then use the title of each box as a subheading for each paragraph. Make sure you include whether you would recommend this book and why along with your 5 star rating (I would love to see pictures of your book reviews on J2E if you are able to upload them!)

Geography L.O: To accurately label the parts of a volcano.

Activity 1: Watch the exciting video below which tells you all about how volcanoes are formed.

Activity 2: I would like you to use what you have learnt from the video above along with a small amount of independent Internet research to complete the 'Features of a Volcano' activity attachment below. For this activity, you will have a diagram of a volcano with empty labels surrounding it. Use the word bank at the bottom of the page to correctly label each part of the volcano. Alternatively, if you would rather draw the volcano in your home learning book and label it in there that is perfectly fine. If you are unsure of a term in the word bank, carry out a Google search to determine which part of the volcano it is. The activity sheet also provides you with an opportunity to write the definition of each volcanic term in the boxes at the bottom of the page. Again, use the video you have watched along with some research of your own to define each term.

Activity 3: Attached below is an answer sheet for the above activity. When you are done, check your labels are correctly placed by opening up this file and comparing it to your own labelled volcano.

P.E.

At a time where we all find ourselves indoors for the most of the day, we should bare in mind how important daily exercise is for our health and wellbeing, particularly our mental health. If you are able to, take your device somewhere with plenty of space (even the garden on a nice sunny day) or clear some space in front of your computer and follow along with Joe Wicks for a 30 minute workout. I will definitely be doing the same!
