Sport

At Abberley Parochial Primary School we are committed to ensuring that a wide variety of high quality sports opportunities are provided for the children who learn here. We believe that sport offers a fantastic chance to learn important life skills, but most importantly we want to share our love of life and sport is a large part of that. Through sport, friendships are formed and solidified. Through sport doors of opportunity open, confidence is increased, and the children feel more fulfilled and healthy as a result.

We are incredibly lucky to have use of the village hall for one hour a week for each class, which provides a fantastic space for the indoor elements of our sports curriculum. Additionally, we have two playgrounds and a large field to use, and the children relish the opportunity to run and play in the fantastic spaces we have available.

Throughout the year we participate inter-school competitions run by The Chantry primary school cluster and the West Worcestershire School Games Network.  We also have an active programme of inter-house tournaments in school and the children have the opportunity to take part in a range of sports through our extracurricular clubs.

The school was awarded the School Games Gold Mark Award for 2022/23.  The School Games Mark is a Government-led award scheme launched in 2012, facilitated by the Youth Sport Trust to reward schools for their commitment to the development of competition across their school and into the community, and we are delighted to have been recognised for our success.
