Music

Music has a special place at Abberley and we are proud of the talents and skills that our pupils develop during their time at school. Singing is a key part of every day at our school, whether that's during our daily Collective Worship, in our singing practice, which takes place every other Friday for the whole school and every Monday for KS1, or in our performances at the church or in the village hall.  We strive to sing with passion, tune and timing.

Curriculum music is taught by our music specialist Mrs Mitchell and each class has an hour of music lessons on a Monday afternoon for three half-terms a year. As well as developing the associated skills, our lessons focus on developing an appreciation for a wide range of music genres, times and cultures.

Our music curriculum follows the Get Set 4 Music sequencing and resources. This ensures that children cover a broad range of styles and musical themes/contexts. It develops children's substantive and disciplinary knowledge throughout their time at Abberley.
