English L.O.: To write a biography on Florence Nightingale.

Activity 1: Listen to  Chapter 23 AND Chapter 24 of 'The Stolen Sister' on the Learning --> Stories page of the website. We have reached the end of this story. We will start reading our new class book on Monday.

Activity 2: Today, we are going to write our biographies on famous Victorian, Florence Nightingale. See 'Biography Example' to remind yourself of what a biography looks like.  Remember to organise the presentation of your biography in a similar way. Your subheadings are in bold below and yesterday you conducted research into who Florence Nightingale is and have information for each subheading of your biography.

Title: Florence Nightingale

  • Who was Florence Nightingale?
  • Early Life
  • Nursing Career
  • Crimean War
  • Lady of the Lamp
  • Recognition and Awards
  • Death

Activity 3:  Begin writing your biography using your research and the answers to yesterdays questions. Use your notes to form clear sentences and paragraphs which detail the key moments in the life of Florence Nightingale, the Lady of the Lamp!

Activity 4: Check your work using the success criteria below, then share your biographies with me on J2E!

Computing L.O.: To create digital art

Over the next 4 weeks, you are going to use your computing skills to create digital art using different artists as inspiration.  This week's artist is Mondrian, a particular favourite of mine. I'm sure some of you will be able to guess why when you see some of his work!

I have attached your instructions below. Enjoy, be creative and have fun!

P.E.

At a time where we all find ourselves indoors for the most of the day, we should bear in mind how important daily exercise is for our health and wellbeing, particularly our mental health. If you are able to, take your device somewhere with plenty of space (even the garden on a nice sunny day) or clear some space in front of your computer and follow along with Joe Wicks for a 30 minute workout. I will definitely be doing the same!
