Friday 10th July

Hello Wrens

It's Friday today and we are going to be starting the very last part of our Superheroes topic - Supertato!

English.

We've been really excited about sharing these stories with you. Mickey Thompson and Purvis thought the story was very funny and they hope you enjoy it as much as they did.

Supertato by Sue Hendra and Paul Linnet (Published by Simon and Schuster books)

Today our English task is going to be to design a Wanted Poster for the Evil Pea.  On your poster you will need to draw a picture of him and then tell everyone what he looks like and why he has been so naughty.  Look Mickey Thompson and Purvis had a go to show you how it's done.   There is a template attached below for you to use.

Maths.

Reception

Today we are going to see how much we can remember about money.  Let's start by recapping which coins we know using the game below.

Start with the ordering activity to see if your child can remember and order coins by value from 0-20p.  Extend up to 50p.   If they are happy with this activity have a go at the sorting game where they have to sort coins by value into the money boxes.

Top marks Money game

Now have a go at seeing if you can carefully count the 1ps in the How much money is in my jar? activity sheets attached below.  There is an easier and a harder version.

Parents - please be careful when printing these that you do not print all the sheets - your child only needs to complete one of the counting in pennies sheets and one of the gluing and sticking sheets.

Year 1.

Today we are going to be thinking of describing the position of objects.  We have covered a little bit of this earlier in the week, but let's use the song from Scratch Garden to recap our Left and Right.  Can you remember the easy way we can tell which is our left and which is our right? (Check back on Wednesday's page if you are not sure).

Then work through the powerpoint attached below.

After you have done this have a go at one of the activity sheets. As usual there are 3 levels to choose from.

Topic.

This morning we listened to the story of Supertato and found out all the mischievous things the Evil Pea had been up to. Your job this afternoon is to design and build a trap for Supertato to catch the Evil Pea.  You will need to think how to make it attractive to the Evil Pea and how you are going to trap him.    Once you have designed your trap using the sheet below you can then have a go at building it.

You could use a construction kit, junk modelling or even build one out of natural materials outside.  It's up to you!  Don't forget to take some photographs so you can share them with us.  We can't wait to see what you come up with.

Best wishes

Mrs Lightfoot (and Purvis and Mickey Thompson)
