  • Our Future Engineers

    Published 30/01/24

We were extremely lucky in Year 5 and 6 this week to take part in STEM (science, technology, engineering and mathematics) challenge led by Worcester County Council. The children had a fantastic afternoon working collaboratively to create a bridge installation system with K'Nex. Their builds had to include a bridge, transportation for the bridge into its position, a mechanism and size restriction. We were so proud of how the children were able to work as a team to problem solve and admired their resilience and determination.

  • Lost Words Assembly with Wildlife Forest Trust

    Published 29/01/24

With the help of Abberley pupils, the forest wizard was able to create a spell to grow a tiny oak tree from the lost word 'acorn'. We have found out that super wizards are caring wizards! They call things by name, to know is to love and to love is to care.

The wizard has set the challenge for our pupils. Can they spend 15 minutes on a nature hunt and see how many nature words they can use to describe what they find?

Also, how many pupils can fit around our huge oak tree?

  • Young Voices!

    Published 26/01/24

Wow! The children in Y5/6 had a fantastic time at the Young Voices concert last Friday. After rehearsing in the afternoon, they were all excited to see parents and family filling up the auditorium. We were much easier to spot this year and it was lovely to see the reactions of both the parents and the children when they saw each other! The children (and staff) sang and danced their hearts out and we hope you had as much fun as we did.

It is such a privilege to be able to enrich the children's education with opportunities such as Young Voices. These experiences provide them with lifelong memories. As always, your children were impeccably behaved and a credit to you and the school.

  • CREW Collective Worship about our value of JUSTICE

    Published 23/01/24

The CREW acted out the Parable of the Unforgiving Servant today to teach us about our value of justice. We all decided that we didn't think Jesus expected Peter to be a good mathematician and work out exactly the total of 70 x 7 = but instead he was trying to tell us that there is no limit on the number of times we should forgive someone.

We should treat people as we wish to be treated. We all make mistakes and we would all like to be treated fairly and with justice.

Thank you to Rev. David for joining us in our worship today.

Today Lewys, Issac and Milly were given headteacher awards for showing compassion. The boys have been giving up their own time and using their football skills to help coach the goalkeeper of the girls' football team.  Milly has shown compassion by thinking about others and in particular making sure Mrs Shelley is OK in her new role as Headteacher of Abberley.
