Remembrance Service
Published 15/11/24On Monday, our school came together for a poignant Remembrance Service, transforming our hall into a sea of beautiful red poppies. It was a moment of reflection and unity, led by Rev'd David, with invaluable contributions from our CREW and staff members.
Mrs Lightfoot shared her recent experience at the 'Standing with Giants' display, part of the D-Day 80 memorial exhibition, bringing history to life for our pupils. Miss Harvey's bible reading, coupled with Miss Rixon and Miss Hughes' thoughtful prayers, added depth to our service.
We were particularly proud of Bluebell and Jenson, who bravely read extracts from Laurence Binyon's 'For the Fallen'. Their words echoed the sentiment of the day, reminding us all of the sacrifices made by so many.
The service culminated in the haunting notes of the Last Post, followed by two minutes of silent reflection. This pause allowed us all to contemplate the significance of Remembrance Day and its enduring importance in our lives.
It was heartening to see our school community come together in such a meaningful way, demonstrating our commitment to remembering and honouring those who have served.

Headteacher's Award 15th November
Published 15/11/24Ethan has been working so hard to improve his pencil skills and I was super impressed with how he had drawn poppies, the sun and grass in his Remembrance picture. Evie took it upon herself to continue her learning at home about Ancient Egypt. She impressed both myself and Mrs Lightfoot with pages and pages of extra research. Alice is continuously demonstrating our Abberley values and thinking about others.
Well done. You have all really deserved a Headteacher award for your achievements.
