In PE this week, Kestrels were focussing on their football dribbling skills. They showed great control as they made their way around the playground trying to dribble the ball through as many cone goals as they could to earn points. If they hit the goal, their score went back to zero!

This week, we concluded our 'Dance by Chance' PE unit. This week, the children worked in their pairs, recapped their routines and considered how they could adapt their routine whilst considering the 'relationship' element of it. By this, we refer to the formation of both partners, whether they work in unison or in canon with one another. The children have participated in these sessions with passion and have been incredibly supportive to one another throughout.

This week, we celebrated the achievements of the children across the school in our achievement assembly. We are very proud of them and the way in which they live our values and attributes.
This week in PSHE, Merlins were learning about all the different jobs that they could aspire to have when they grow up. We began the lesson by discussing all the job titles they knew, and then we began to think how much value people contribute to society based on the jobs they have. They then had an opportunity to match the starting salaries of these jobs to the corresponding profession. We had a very honest and insightful discussion about whether salary aligns with value to society and whether money should be the driving force for job aspiration. The children spoke eloquently about how they felt some jobs deserved a high salary and how it is passion for what you do that should override a desire for wealth.
What an excellent first computing lesson with KS2 using the new microbits. All pupils were able to write code to make the lights on the matrix light up to display their name. We had great fun exploring and tinkering.
In science, Merlins have been investigating different materials for different properties.
Fantastic cave paintings by Reception.
