This week in PSHE, Merlins were learning about all the different jobs that they could aspire to have when they grow up. We began the lesson by discussing all the job titles they knew, and then we began to think how much value people contribute to society based on the jobs they have. They then had an opportunity to match the starting salaries of these jobs to the corresponding profession. We had a very honest and insightful discussion about whether salary aligns with value to society and whether money should be the driving force for job aspiration. The children spoke eloquently about how they felt some jobs deserved a high salary and how it is passion for what you do that should override a desire for wealth.
