Skylarks' Shabbat Dinner

This week in RE, Skylarks explored our half-term topic, “Who is Jewish and how do they live?” by re-enacting Shabbat dinner. The children learnt about the importance of this special time in Jewish family life and some of the preparations and traditions that are involved in Shabbat. They enjoyed this hands-on activity. We had our own version of challah bread (brioche) and wine/grape juice (squash) which helped bring the whole experience to life.
This experience supports the children to follow our school vision of 'Love, Grow and Flourish Together'. It helps to give pupils an understanding of different beliefs and practices. It also links to British values, particularly mutual respect and tolerance of those with different faiths and beliefs.
