Year 3's Campfire
Year 3 Outdoor Afternoon
On a sunny Wednesday afternoon, Year 3 enjoyed a fantastic outdoor adventure filled with fun, teamwork, and a touch of classic summer camp magic. The afternoon began with team-building games, including the ever-popular Human Knot, where pupils worked together to untangle themselves without letting go of each other’s hands. This was followed by an energetic game of Hide and Seek, which had everyone laughing and exploring the outdoor space with enthusiasm.
Later, we gathered in a circle and sang a selection of lively campfire songs. The children joined in with great excitement, clapping and singing along to favourites like “Boom Chicka Boom”.
As the afternoon went on, we went on a mini-scavenger hunt to find the perfect sticks for roasting marshmallows. Once everyone had found their stick, we built a safe and supervised fire. The highlight of the day was making traditional s’mores—melting marshmallows over the fire and sandwiching them between chocolate and digestive biscuits.
It was a joyful afternoon full of teamwork, creativity and outdoor learning. The children were engaged and enthusiastic throughout, creating memories that will last.
