  • Young Voices 2026

    Published 30/01/26

Year 5 and 6 had an amazing trip to Young Voices in Birmingham, where they spent the day singing and dancing to the songs they have been learning over recent weeks. The highlight was performing as part of a huge choir in front of parents, which was a fantastic and memorable experience for everyone involved. Although the children were very tired by the end of the day, it was a truly worthwhile trip that they enjoyed immensely. We are already looking forward to preparing for next year’s visit.

  • School Closed 09.01.2026

    Published 09/01/26

    Dear Parents and Carers,

Due to heavy snowfall, the school will be closed today. A governor and a staff member were on site this morning to assess the school grounds, nearby roads, and the village hall car park. With several cars abandoned on the roads into Abberley, the village hall car park unsafe to drive on, and the roads leading up to the school undriveable, the decision has been made to close the school.

This decision was not taken lightly and has been made with the support of the governors and other local schools.

We know this decision may not make all parents happy, but we’re fairly confident that 100% of the children will be delighted! Most importantly, the safety of our pupils, families, and staff must come first.

Thank you for your understanding. We appreciate your support and will keep you updated with any further information.

    Warm regards,

    Claire Shelley & Abberley Governor

  • Key stage 2 Musicians

    Published 12/12/25

On Monday, it was fantastic to hear our KS2 pupils showcasing the musical skills they have developed this term, whether on the flute, dood or ukulele. It was especially lovely to hear the doods producing such beautiful notes as the children mastered the technique of controlling their breath. A big well done to Mrs Mitchell for her dedication in teaching and inspiring such a variety of musical talents.

This year marks the first time that every child in KS2 has been given the opportunity to learn a musical instrument. The school hopes the experience will spark a lifelong interest in music and perhaps inspire the musicians of the future.

Following on from our science topic of 'Forces and Magnets', the children were set 10 different activities created to reinforce and stretch their understanding of the topic. They rose to the challenge brilliantly and there was lots of conversation about their findings using scientific vocabulary and giving them the opportunity to showcase their knowledge.
