What a fantastic last week of term, with so much to celebrate, particularly for our year 6 children. I was proud of their hard work, which saw some of the best SATs results in the county and nationally. However, what makes me more proud is the values and kindness that they have demonstrated in their time at Abberley. It's not always plain sailing, but life isn't like that. This group of children have set such a positive example for the rest of the school and genuinely have embraced the opportunities at primary school. They are ready to move on, but I am certain that they will look back on their years with us with great fondness. They are a credit to their families and our school and will be missed at Abberley.

I am grateful for all of the support and kindness that has been shown during my four years as headteacher. I'm certain that I haven't got everything right, but I have tried to listen and build a school which nurtures everyone in its community, treats all with respect and is united in achieving the best for the children. It has been a wonderful four years for me, despite the significant challenges, and I value the connections that I have been able to share with pupils, colleagues and families in our school community. I believe that Abberley Primary School has come through each challenge positively and the children have continued to thrive as a result. The connections I have made with you have brought me fulfilment and I will miss everyone who is part of Abberley Primary School.

Thank you for your patience, support and trust.

Wishing you all a wonderful summer and success in the future.

Yours sincerely,

Joel Turvey

Farm Visit with Reception
Last week our Reception pupils went to visit a working farm and became farmers for the day. We learnt how to grow crops, how to feed and look after farm animals. We even tried to be sheep dogs and round the sheep up and move them from one field to another! We all had an enjoyable and busy day.

KS1 and reception

We would like to express how much of a pleasure it has been to teach the Skylarks this year. They are a wonderful group of children, and we just know they are going to continue to be magnificient Kingfishers in September! Thank you all so much for the generous end of year gifts - you really shouldn't have but it is very, very much appreciated. We want to wish you all the most wonderful summer holidays filled with sunshine and fun.

Mrs Shelley, Miss Hughes (for a couple of weeks if the new baby doesn't make an early appearance!), Mrs Birch and Miss Williams look forward to seeing you all in September.

Key Stage 2

The KS2 teachers thank everyone for their lovely gifts and wish you an enjoyable summer.  Good luck to Year 6, and they look forward to seeing everyone else in September.
