What a marvellous year we have had at Abberley. It is hard to believe that we have reached the end of another academic year, and as always, it seems to have flown by in the blink of an eye!
As we draw the 2025–2026 academic year to a close, I would like to express my thanks and appreciation to the hardworking and dedicated staff at Abberley. Throughout the year they have gone above and beyond to provide our children with the very best start in life. Their commitment, care and passion for education make Abberley such a special place to learn and grow.
Today, we said a fond farewell to our Year 6 pupils. They have enjoyed a wonderful final day at primary school, filled with special memories including signing shirts, attending their Leavers’ Service and, of course, making a memorable departure by tractor. We wish all of our Year 6 children the very best of luck as they embark on their next academic adventure. They leave us with many happy memories, and we are incredibly proud of all they have achieved during their time at Abberley.
Today’s celebrations have been a fitting end to what has been an exceptionally busy and exciting week. Last Friday, we were fortunate to enjoy glorious sunshine at our Summer Fete. A huge thank-you goes to the Friends of Abberley for organising such a memorable event. Their hard work and dedication helped create a wonderful afternoon that was enjoyed by all.
Earlier this week, Broadway came to Abberley as our Key Stage 2 pupils took to the stage to perform Superstan. What a fantastic show! The children amazed us with their singing, acting and enthusiasm, and it was wonderful to see their talents shine. Well done to everyone involved for delivering such an entertaining and professional performance.
We have also received some wonderful news this week. We are delighted to have been awarded the School Games Gold Mark, recognising our commitment to developing school sport and promoting physical activity across the school. This is a fantastic achievement and reflects the enthusiasm of both our pupils and staff.
I would also like to extend a sincere thank you to Leo in Year 4 and his parents for their incredibly generous leaving gift of a set of iPads for the school. We are extremely grateful for this thoughtful donation and look forward to using them from September to enrich and enhance our computing curriculum.
Finally, on behalf of myself and all the staff at Abberley, I would like to thank you for your continued support throughout the year, and for the many kind gifts and messages we have received today. We wish all of our families a wonderful summer holiday filled with fun, relaxation and special family moments.
We look forward to welcoming everyone back, refreshed and ready for another exciting year, on Thursday 3rd September.
