Our Year 5 and 6 children have returned from their residential trip to Oakerwood full of smiles, stories, and memories that will last a lifetime. They had a wonderful time taking part in exciting outdoor activities, building teamwork skills, and enjoying the great outdoors. A huge thank you goes to the staff who generously gave up their own time to make this opportunity possible. Judging by the enthusiasm of the children (and the tired faces on return!), I think there will be plenty of catching up on sleep for both pupils and staff this weekend. Do take a look at the news articles on our website where you’ll find lots of photos capturing the fun!
Our Pupil Wellbeing Group have been busy too. They have put together a cheerful wellbeing report which they would like to share with the whole school. It’s wonderful to see our pupils taking the lead in sharing important messages and celebrating wellbeing across our community. Please click here to read .
We are also delighted to share some very happy news within our Abberley family. Miss Hughes has welcomed a new arrival into her family with the safe birth of baby Grace. We send our warmest congratulations to Miss Hughes and her family at this special time.

Today we were really excited to hand out our brand-new certificates that celebrate how we are living our Abberley vision of Love, Grow and Flourish together. A big thank you to Hayley, Izzy and Oscar’s mum, for helping us design the colourful new certificates.

This week, pupils worked brilliantly as a team to harvest apples from our school grounds. If you have any ideas what we can do with the apples then please see Mrs Day.

We are also pleased to let you know that the school diary for the entire year has now been uploaded to the website calendar. This should help families plan ahead and book time off work where needed. You can access the diary via the drop-down menu on the website under Information > Calendar.
Looking ahead, Rev’d David has invited Abberley children to join the Harvest Service at St. Mary’s Church on Sunday 5th October. The service will include opportunities for children to take part by reading prayers, poems, Bible readings, or helping in other ways. If your child would like to be involved, please speak to Mrs Shelley or Mrs Lightfoot at the start of next week. It would be wonderful to see our children representing the school at this special community celebration.
Finally, just a gentle reminder:
- if you have not already completed the consent form for the children’s nasal flu vaccination, please do so as soon as possible to ensure your child is included.
- KS2 pupils please remember to bring in your instruments for Monday's music lesson.
Have a lovely weekend and I look forward to seeing everyone next week.
