Dear Abberley Families,
What a wonderful feeling it is to welcome everyone back to Abberley after what I hope has been a lovely, relaxing summer break for you all. Welcome to our new Abberley families joining us tomorrow. Whilst you've been enjoying your well-deserved rest, our beautiful school building has been a hive of activity with some truly exciting developments that I simply cannot wait to share with you.
I am absolutely delighted to tell you that our school hall has had the most wonderful makeover. The painting looks fresh and vibrant, and we've restored the original wooden floor to its former glory - and yes, you'll be pleased to hear there's no green carpet in sight! The transformation doesn't stop there either. Our school office and library have also been painted, and what was previously our 'resource area with the photocopier and laptops' has been turned into a new learning area. The children are going to have the exciting task of renaming this revamped space this week, and I know they'll come up with something perfectly fitting.
Our building improvements continue with the flat roof now 95% completed, and the new windows will be fitted this weekend. We've also had a new boiler installed, though this particular project won't be finished for another couple of weeks yet. With this in mind, if your children are planning to return in their lovely summer dresses tomorrow, please do ensure they bring along a jumper or cardigan just in case.
Looking ahead, Merlins will soon be embarking on their residential trip to Okerwood. For all Merlins' families, we're holding an information meeting on Tuesday 9th September at 3.20pm in our newly refurbished hall, where we'll share all the exciting details.
Just a few important reminders as we settle back into our school routine: our gates will open at 8.40am tomorrow morning, ready for our 8.50am start, with school finishing at 3.20pm as usual. Due to the ongoing building work, we're currently using only the main school gate for both drop off and pick-up. Thank you for your patience with this temporary arrangement.
Can I inform all parents that we are now operating as a nut-free school due to the medical needs of some of our pupils. Please ensure that no nuts or foods containing nuts are brought into school.
Finally, do look out for Friday's newsletter, which will contain specific information for individual classes. Skylarks (Years 1&2) are planning a PE lesson this Thursday, but if PE kits haven't quite made it back to school yet, please don't worry - this won't be an issue.
Here's to a fantastic new term ahead!
