Reception post their letters to Father Christmas.

Science in Y3/4 was a little different this week. Savannah and Sarah came in to talk to us about how wheat is turned into flour and how we use that for food. Savannah showed the children some photos and videos about how wheat is grown and explained the process from planting to harvesting. We then planted some grain, and hopefully we should see some growth before we break up for Christmas. Sarah brought in her tabletop mill and the children saw how the grain was turned into flour. The children used the milled flour to make cookie dough which they got to take home to bake. She also brought in a loaf of bread made with the same flour which we all got to taste and agreed was delicious! We all had a fantastic afternoon and enjoyed seeing a different type of food chain in action!
