It has been wonderful to hear about the many ways you have demonstrated respect, resilience, and a strong work ethic throughout the term. You should be incredibly proud of your achievements. You are a real inspiration to others across the school. Well done to each and every one of you.

Rev’d Tobias had the challenging task of judging this year’s wonderful array of Easter bonnets, and we thank him for taking on such an important role. The creativity, colour, and effort on display made the decision no easy one! Below, you can see the well-deserved winners. Congratulations to all who took part.

Following a hearty cooked breakfast, everyone was ready for a full day of adventure. The morning activities included abseiling, tackling the climbing tower, and enjoying the thrill of the zip line. It was wonderful to see the children encouraging one another and building their confidence as they took on each challenge.

After lunch, the group split into two. One group took part in the “night line,” where they wore blindfolds and had to rely on their teammates and their other senses to carefully navigate a trail. This activity was fantastic for building trust and teamwork. Meanwhile, the other group suited up for fencing, learning how to stand “en garde” and practising their skills in a fun and engaging session.

Later in the afternoon, the groups swapped again, with one trying out circus skills—showcasing balance, coordination, while the other group challenged themselves on the high ropes, showing great bravery and determination.

After dinner, it was time for the final activity of the day: caving. This exciting experience was the perfect way to round off a busy day, with lots of smiles and stories to share.

After such a fun-filled and action-packed day, everyone is now looking forward to settling down for a well-earned and restful night’s sleep!

We’re incredibly proud of how the children are supporting one another, trying new things, and embracing every opportunity.

Once everything was tidy, it was time for the first activities of the day. Group 1 headed off to the thrilling high rope course, where they bravely climbed high above the ground and balanced along tricky obstacles. It took courage, concentration and teamwork, but everyone cheered each other on and felt very proud when they completed the challenge.

Meanwhile, Group 2 discovered the wonderful world of circus skills. They learnt exciting tricks such as juggling, balancing and spinning plates. There were plenty of giggles as everyone practised their new talents and tried to master their favourite circus acts.

After a busy morning, everyone enjoyed a well-earned lunch to refuel for the afternoon activities.

In the afternoon, Group 1 suited up in their protective gear and stepped onto the piste to learn the art of fencing. With a confident “En garde!”, they practised their footwork and learnt how to safely launch and defend against their partners. 

At the same time, Group 2 took part in a blind trail challenge. Wearing blindfolds, they had to trust their teammates to guide them safely along a mysterious trail. Clear communication and teamwork were the keys to success, and the group did brilliantly supporting one another.

After a fantastic day full of new experiences, everyone gathered for a delicious evening meal, which was the perfect chance to relax and share stories from the day.

To end our first day, we all snuggled up for a cosy cinema night. With a great film playing and some tasty sweet treats to enjoy, it was the perfect way to wind down after such an action-packed day.

What a brilliant start to the trip, we can’t wait to see what tomorrow brings!

A special well done also goes to the pupils recognised by our lunchtime supervisors for showing excellent respect, kindness and responsibility during lunchtimes. These children have been wonderful role models by looking after one another and taking pride in caring for our school environment.

• The importance of not believing everything you see and read on the internet.

• Sleep deprivation from gaming and online use, and the impact of this on achievements and emotions.

They carried out experiments to discover which shapes had the greatest and least water resistance, making careful observations and recording their results. The class enjoyed comparing their findings and thinking about why certain shapes moved more easily through the water than others.

The Merlins also planned their own investigation to answer the question: Which shoe had the greatest friction? They considered how to make the test fair and discussed the variables they would need to control to ensure reliable results.

Due to heavy snowfall, the school will be closed today. A governor and a staff member were on site this morning to assess the school grounds, nearby roads, and the village hall car park. With several cars abandoned on the roads into Abberley, the village hall car park unsafe to drive on, and the roads leading up to the school undriveable, the decision has been made to close the school.

This decision was not taken lightly and has been made with the support of the governors and other local schools.

We know this decision may not make all parents happy, but we’re fairly confident that 100% of the children will be delighted! Most importantly, the safety of our pupils, families, and staff must come first.

This year marks the first time that every child in KS2 has been given the opportunity to learn a musical instrument. The school hopes the experience will spark a lifelong interest in music and perhaps inspire the musicians of the future.

 A big well done to Eleana and Freddie, whose creative design and festive flair really stood out. Thank you to all the children who took part. Your imaginative and colourful entries brought plenty of Christmas cheer to the village hall.
