Hello Wrens

Let's get straight on with our phonics learning today.

Let's warm up with a game of Yes/No Yeti.  Using the link below, read the sentence and decide whether the answer is yes or no. If the answer is yes stand up and if the answer is no stay sitting down.

Maths.

Reception.

Yesterday we were learning about patterns.  Let's warm up and see how much we can remember using the game below.

Pattern game

There are lots of patterns in nature.

Take a look at the powerpoint below.  What natural patterns can you spot?

Take a walk outside and see how many patterns you can spot.  You might have to look carefully at some of the plants and flowers to find some.

Can you make your own pattern using some natural materials?  Don't forget to take a photograph of it so we can share them on the newsletter.

Look at the one Mickey Thompson and Purvis made.

Take a look at the video below to see some more amazing natural patterns.

Year 1.

Today we are going to be continuing with what we learnt about subtraction yesterday and apply this to some problem solving activities.

Let's start by practising counting backwards as this is a really useful skill in subtraction using the video below.

Now have a look at the powerpoint below to practise some problem solving activities and then choose one of the 3 attached sheets to try.

Topic

Yesterday in RE we started to learn about the Jewish faith.  Today we are going to be carrying on with this work by finding out about the special building where Jewish people go to worship God.

It is called a synagogue.

The word synagogue has 3 different meanings

House of Gathering

House of Learning

House of Prayer

It is the building where people of the Jewish faith  gather together to learn about and pray to God, just like Christians would visit a Church.

Take a look at the powerpoint attached below to find out a bit more about a synagogue and some of the things you find inside it.

Can you remember what the Jewish holy book is called?

Now take a look at the video below which contains a virtual tour of a synagogue.  Can you spot all the features that were mentioned in the powerpoint?

Let's see what we can remember by completing the labelling sheet below.

Can you use the key words to label the items in the synagogue?

Best wishes

Mrs Lightfoot (and Purvis and Mickey Thompson)
