Maths:

We are all doing the same maths task today. I have set up a Battle of the Bands on TTRS which will start at 10am today and finish at 10am on Monday. You should have your log in details in the front of your Home Learning books but if you can't remember yours, go on to J2e and share a document with me and I'll send your details as soon as I can.

Good luck!

Also, please complete one page of your Mental Arithmetic book. If you are able to, mark your work with a parent, adult or older sibling at home.

English: LO: SPaG Mystery

Below there are 2 SPaG (Spelling and Grammar) mysteries. You will be familiar with these as you've done lots in maths. I have added some tips and reminders below. Please choose the one you think you've got a good chance at doing- but still a challenge. THE ANSWERS ARE AT THE BOTTOM OF BOTH DOCUMENTS- DON'T PEEK!

The Mystery of the Missing Sunglasses is the easier version. (Think Bronze Level)

Things you need to know for this challenge-

  • Sentence types- is the sentence a question (?), an exclamation (!) or a command (.) ?
  • Capital letter and full stops and identifying where they are missing.
  • Suffixes- These are word endings such as -ly, -ness and -ment. Remember that you may have to change the end of the root word for it to fit with the suffix.
  • Spellings- finding words that are spelt incorrectly- and correcting them.
  • Prefixes- these come at the beginning of words such as un-, in-... can you find the ones that match?

The Missing Emjois SPaG- is the harder version. Y (Think Silver/Gold Level)

Things you need to know for this challenge-

  • Homophones- different ways of spelling words that sound the same
  • Plural Possessive Apostrophes- Multiple things owning something- for example: The dogs' favourite bone is yellow.  (2 dogs liking 1 bone)
  • Year3/4 Statutory Spelling List (the ones set by the government) Can you remember the correct ways of spelling words?
  • Suffixes- These are word endings like -ation, -ly & -ous.
  • Speech Marks- Remembering the rules- Capital letter to start speech, ending the speech with a , or a ! or a ? and a new line when a different character starts speaking.
