Wednesday 20th May

3 more chapters of Slime are available by clicking this link.

English: To write a letter to the author of your favourite book.

During this time, lots of people are writing to each other and keeping the letters as a memory. Think about your favourite book and using the internet (with an adult) search for an address to send fan-mail. Write them a letter to tell them why you loved reading their book.

Maths: Even though your work is split into your two usual maths groups, I (Mrs. Gregory) am planning it for you so please share any work with me (je38). That way I can give you some feedback and comment on what you are doing. I have been really impressed with the work you have shared already and that is making me very happy!

Miss Hughes’ group – L.O. To subtract fractions

You are moving on now to subtracting fractions. You will be subtracting fractions with the same denominator (bottom number) where the total is less than 1.  You will notice that you subtract the numerators (top numbers) and the denominators (bottom numbers) stay the same.

Watch the video below and then do the attached worksheet.

Mrs. Gregory & Mrs. Postlethwaite’s group – L.O. To write simple fractions as decimals

You are going to be making links between fractions and decimals today and looking at how to write ½, ¼ and ¾ as decimals. You can use concrete and pictorial representations to help you do this if needed. You are also going to use your knowledge of equivalent fractions to write fractions as hundredths and then write the fractions as halves or quarters. Watch the video below and then do the attached worksheet.
