Activity 1: Listen to Chapter 25 of 'Pig Heart Boy' on the Learning--> Stories page of the website. Whilst you are listening, consider how your predictions from yesterday's task align with how the plot progresses.

Activity 2: Open up the following link: Personification in a Setting Description then find and watch the two 'learn' videos below which you can find on this webpage.

The pictures below are NOT video links, you must follow the link above to find these videos on the website. These pictures are to show you which videos to find once you have clicked the link above.

Personification

Personification can be used to make your sentences more exciting by:

  •  Describing objects as if they are people.
  •  Describing objects as if they have feelings.

Example

'The rain stomped angrily on the fragile roof like an angry giant.'

‘The snow painted delicate white pictures on the ground as it fell gently from the sky.’

As part of a setting description, these examples of personification create a clear image of the setting and help to set the mood of the scene.

Activity 3:

Activity 4:

1) Imagine you are watching someone film a dust storm in Australia.

2) Think about what the person could see while they filmed.

3) Write three sentences that use personification to describe:

  •  what the person filming could see

OR

  •  how the person was feeling as they filmed

Examples

The dust swallowed everything in it’s path like a vicious monster.

Nervous sweat swam down the woman’s forehead as she filmed.

Activity 5: Attached below is a file titled 'Wildlife Personification'. Have a go at matching up the animal with its associated human action before having a go at creating some combinations for yourself.

R.E. Why do some people believe God exists?

Key vocabulary to explore: theist, atheist, agnostic. Find the meanings to these three words using the Internet to help.

Consider reasons a theist believes in God and an atheist does not. See if you can write down three reasons for each. You could call or talk to some family members or friends to discuss their reasons. How might the reasons for an agnostic not believing be different to those of an atheist?

What do Christians believe God is like? Read four of the scriptures (type them into google or you can copy and paste them). Write down what they suggest about God's character or nature according to Christians.

John 3:16, Psalm 68:19-20, Genesis 1:26, 1 John 1:5, Matthew 5:48, Psalm 90:2, Job 12:10, Psalm 95:4-5, Genesis 3:9

P.E.

At a time where we all find ourselves indoors for the most of the day, we should bare in mind how important daily exercise is for our health and wellbeing, particularly our mental health. If you are able to, take your device somewhere with plenty of space (even the garden on a nice sunny day) or clear some space in front of your computer and follow along with Joe Wicks for a 30 minute workout. I will definitely be doing the same!

OR alternatively, Mrs Lightfoot has uploaded some very exciting links to other online PE sessions which you can access by following this link:   Alternative P.E. Ideas
